THEATRE & FILM PRODUCTION

Introduction

Two powerful forms of creative storytelling that share a similar foundation in performance, directing and design yet differ significantly in execution, audience and technical approach are theatre and film.

At Talent Centre Africa, we are determined to work collaboratively with writers, directors, performers, designers and crew to bring stories to life.

This segment has been separated to allow both youth and children participate towards building their potential in the best available way while communicating to different audience targets within the community.

We tell stories from political, social, environmental and religious angles among our major areas of focus with an aim to inspire creativity, confidence and influence among our members as well as the society

Both film & theatre allows us to portray genres such as plays, musicals, poetry and comedy just to mention a few.

Theatre Production

1. Development and Pre-Production

  • Script Selection: Begins with choosing a play or developing an original script.
  • Casting: Actors are selected through auditions based on the vision of the director.
  • Design: Set, costume, lighting, and sound designers work closely to create a cohesive environment that supports the narrative.
  • Rehearsals: Extensive rehearsals are conducted to block scenes, develop characters, and refine performances.

2. Live Performance

  • Theatre is performed live before an audience, requiring actors to maintain energy, precision, and timing.
  • Technical elements such as lighting and sound are executed in real-time, often requiring backstage coordination.

3. Unique Elements

  • The ephemeral nature of theatre means each performance is slightly different.
  • Audience interaction and immediate feedback play a vital role in shaping the experience.

Film Production

2. Production (Filming)

  • Scenes are shot out of sequence based on logistics.
  • Cinematography, lighting, and sound are carefully controlled and recorded.
  • Multiple takes allow for refined performances and technical precision.

3. Post-Production

  • Editing: Footage is cut, arranged, and polished.
